I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kalunai Hostel in Puerto Viejo, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The staff, led by the friendly and approachable owner Yanis, made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Not only did they offer excellent currency exchange rates, but they were always ready to provide valuable recommendations for places to visit and dine nearby. The shared kitchen was impeccably clean and well-equipped, allowing me to prepare my meals with ease while enjoying conversations with fellow travelers at the large social tables. The cozy sitting area with plenty of hammocks and rocking chairs provided the perfect spot to unwind and relax after a day of exploration. The proximity to the beach and amenities, along with the option to rent a bike on-site, made it incredibly convenient to explore the vibrant surroundings. The laundry service was prompt, and the dormitories were not only comfortable but also featured convenient amenities like lockers and work desks. Kalunai struck the ideal balance between socializing and relaxation, with quiet hours after 10:30 ensuring a peaceful night's sleep.In conclusion, Kalunai Hostel stands out as a gem in Puerto Viejo, offering not just a place to stay but a welcoming environment where guests can truly feel like part of a family.
